All private national schools under the Utama Schools Group adhere to the  Malaysian National Curriculum as set by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. Sekolah Sri Utama develops students to be independent, self-motivated learners and critical thinkers.

Enhanced Syllabus
The school’s curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science is further enhanced through the integration of key elements from the Cambridge International Curriculum.

Language and Literacy
Although the medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia, Sekolah Sri Utama places equal emphasis on developing students’ proficiency in spoken and written English. Both English and Bahasa Malaysia are compulsory subjects across all Primary and Secondary year levels.

Balanced Education
Sekolah Sri Utama offers a broad array of co-curricular activities, incorporating various sports, academic and non-academic activities and uniform units. All activities are designed to enrich and strengthen student‘s learning, ensuring that your child receives a balanced and well-rounded education.

Dual Language Programme (DLP)
In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s “Empowering Bahasa Malaysia and Strengthening English” policy, the Dual Language Programme (DLP) was initiated at selected Malaysian primary and secondary national/ private schools in 2016. A total of 300 schools across Malaysia, including Sekolah Sri Utama, are now qualified to offer the DLP pilot programme.

This programme enables Sekolah Sri Utama to offer Science and Mathematics with English as the medium of instruction. This programme is currently being offered to Primary 1, Primary 4, and Form 1 students (selected campuses). The DLP programme provides students with the opportunity to enhance their English language proficiency.

Sekolah Sri Utama offers Primary and Secondary school curricula that prepares students for Malaysian National School examinations including Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Students also benefit from engagement in a variety of enhanced learning experiences.

Enhanced Curriculum
Sekolah Sri Utama (SSU) will be providing an enhance curriculum which comprises the existing Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) beginning from 2017. Students study both the Malaysian national curriculum (KBSM) and the Cambridge International curriculum. Upon graduating from Sekolah Sri Utama students will be receiving IGCSE as well as SPM certificate. This integration gives an added value to students’ learning experience. Students will take the Cambridge IGCSE at the end of Form 4 and the SPM at the end of Form 5. IGCSE is a world-recognised qualification in 180 countries worldwide.

About Cambridge IGCSE

Globally recognised
Cambridge IGCSE is accepted by leading universities and employers worldwide as evidence of academic ability, providing an international passport to progression and success. In the UK, Cambridge IGCSE is accepted as equivalent to GCSE.

Cambridge IGCSE is available in 70 subjects, including over 30 languages in any combination. Core and extended curricula are available in many subjects for students of differing abilities. Schools are free to develop a curriculum that suits their learners’ needs.

Syllabuses use learner-centred and enquiry based approaches to learning. Cambridge IGCSE develops skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving.

Rigorous assessment
Learners are assessed at the end of the course. This linear structure gives more uninterrupted teaching time. Learners are awarded a grade from A* to G for each subject with A* being the highest grade.

International outlook
Cambridge IGCSE has been designed with two concepts in mind: international standards and contextualised learning. The content suits a wide variety of schools and avoids cultural bias.

Tried and tested
2013 marked the 25th anniversary of the first Cambridge IGCSE exam.

The addition of IGCSE will enable students to continue their overseas studies earlier. Moreover students can study in various fields.

IGCSE is a world-recognised qualification for students. It is an examination that tests knowledge in individual subjects in the same way as SPM.

Primary: Standard 1 – 6 (Ages: 7 – 12)

The Primary years are the foundation upon which all future schooling is built. The SSU primary years programme provides students with a balanced education. On top of the schools strong academic programme, students participate in a wide array of co-curricular activities.

Though Bahasa Malaysia is the medium of instruction across all levels, students are also required to learn both English and Mandarin. Taught by the schools well qualified and experienced teachers. These subjects develop strong language and literacy foundations. Upon completion of Primary 6, students sit for the UPSR examination. Sekolah Sri Utama provide a wide array of curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students. English and Bahasa Malaysia are compulsory subjects in the secondary school, and both Science and Mathematics are taught in English.

The Lower Secondary School incorporates Forms 1 to 3, with students enrolled from 13 years of age. Students in Form 3 undertake the Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) examination or Lower Secondary Evaluation. The Upper Secondary School incorporates Forms 4 to 5, with students sitting for the IGCSE at Form 4 and the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination at the conclusion of Form 5.
